Original artwork description:

This is a painting from one of my models from a few years ago. The image explored various ways in producing an image of a model through non-traditional ways of creating a nude.

The form of the image show the model coming towards you - staring intently at the viewer, rather than being passive to the gaze of a viewer - in this sensibility I was exploring the gaze and the intense stare of a model who is aware her image will be looked upon by a viewer.

The colours correspond to an expressionist sensibility and the use of strong colours in a simplified application - although there is nothing simplified in their handling and placement to form the image and its apparently easy application. The composition took many sittings to compose in the right balance between the model, the position and the perspective of the viewer.
