Original artwork description:

Bringing women into my 'painters painting' sequence and emphasizing female power, importance, creation. She’s painting with her finger but also pointing or signifying; poking the animal to test for life. The expression on the big face in this moment is like an automaton; she’s artificial and she doesn’t respond because she’s a painting not a person. The flowers were a last minute choice also. It's interesting to use improvisation in a representational system. Recognizing the cue of the subject's robot like expression I painted flowers to look artificial/plastic. The little green twine vine connecting sent me over to change the pant color (as seen in the alternative shot on easel) and the last decision was to try and date the painting with her wearing army surplus.

Materials used:

oil on canvas
