I painted "Violet Irises" in our garden, sitting under heating sun and smelling freshly blooming flowers and earth. Firstly, this painting was a simple floral scenery sketch, but then I played with the idea of adding a figure to the picture. A woman walking in the garden, when the viewer sees only part of her legs, was the final composition. For me, this painting speaks about the intimacy of being present in nature, sensual and engaging.
