Wood engraving of Kings Cross St Pancras station on the London Underground, showing the northbound Victoria line platform. This work was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2013; the Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition 2013; Draw 13: Society of Graphic Fine Art Open Exhibition; and was the winner of Print Jam 2014, the Printmaker Prize at the Cork Street Winter Exhibition 2013 and the Derwent Award at the Patchings Open Exhibition 2013.
Wood engraving is a tradional form of fine art printmaking. The artist uses specialised tools to create the image in relief (and reverse) on the end grain of a block of hardwood - usually boxwood - by removing the 'white' parts of the image. This technique is painstaking and highly technical, and allows for the creation of exquisitely detailed works. Rebecca's wood engravings have been exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, with the Society of Wood Engravers, and in galleries across the world from Japan to the USA.
