Inspiration
A painting inspired by my latest trip to the Alpine region in Victoria. I visited this place at two different times of the day where I completed plein air sketched and took numerous photos which inspired this studio painting. On the evening I was there it was just after an afternoon summer storm and the humidity in the air combined with the gentle breeze and beautiful light at sunset, were the ingredients that motivated this work. In this studio painting, I decided to exclude the township of Bright however include a lonely house on the left-hand side illuminated by the gentle light. The atmosphere was changing every second and hence I just recorded a fraction of a second when the light illuminated the evaporating water on the distant mountains. However, I also wanted to depict the effect of industrialization and logging on the landscape by including an almost bare mountain in the shadows on the left-hand side of the painting
