Original artwork description:

Here are my Victorian bathers! I have spend some considerable time with these guys so I have got quite attached to them. This is a fabulous collage that would be a real talking point anywhere. Or maybe I should say laughing point.

This collage is made on an old canvas which I found in a Brocante here in France. I cleaned the canvas and then I have used hundreds of little bits of torn magazine paper in all sorts of blue tones, some with a little bit of pattern on them and some with writing. Each little bit of paper has been glued to the canvas. I then found the bathers in an old art book that I found in the same Brocante. I cut out the characters that I liked best and glued them onto the canvas too. The ducks I found in a magazine and they just seem to fit into the whole crazy scenario! I then used black ink to make the bathers stand out really well in amongst the water.
Lastly, the whole finished collage has a medium added on top to protect it and seal everything in.
The collage is sold with this lovely old frame. It has a real vintage look about it and I painted it white to give a strong contrast to the bathers and the water. The frame has a bit of texture to it which is really nice.
The collage is signed on the front.

Materials used:

canvas, paper, glue, medium, ink, paint, old artbook, old canvas
