An original handmade and signed linocut print of the Victoria Palace Theatre, London.
This is an edition of 50. Printed with oil based inks on acid-free paper by rubbing the back of the paper with a baren and a wooden spoon!
The image is just under A4 in size and is signed and editioned in pencil at the bottom by me, the artist. It comes ready mounted in soft white with a backing board so all you need to do is frame it and hang it on your wall. It will fit a standard 12" x 16" frame (30cm x 41cm - roughly A3). The frame shown in one of the photos is not included but to show how lovely it might look in your house!
I worked at the Victoria Palace Theatre for many years and know the building well and have sketched it many times. I left before the musical Hamilton started, when the theatre was closed for a prolonged period for an extensive re-fit. I might be controversial and say that it is one of the few attractive buildings left in Victoria Street! We used to have a theatre cat, so perhaps I will do a linocut of the theatre featuring her sometime ...
The theatre was built by famed theatre architect Frank Matcham. His good designs meant that audiences weren't stuck trying to peer around pillars in the stalls and circle.
