Original artwork description:

Inspired by my host city in Italy, Vicenza. The oxidized copper domes of the Basilica Palladiana and the Vicenza Cathedral designed by Andrea Palladio. Based on classical antiquity, and after reworking elements of Renaissance architecture, Palladio proposed an architecture based on simplicity, proportion and integration into the landscape, which culminated in a series of unique buildings: the churches and villas he built. in Venice and the surroundings of Vicenza.
In this work I used an encaustic base, I added gold and copper foil that I then oxidized with acid. Seeing the mutation of each substrate took me back to my childhood when I spent hours looking through my kaleidoscope.

The artwork titled “Vicenza” inspires a sense of timeless beauty and natural elegance. The rich turquoise hues intermingle with gold accents, evoking the patina of aged copper or the weathered walls of an ancient structure. It feels as though it captures a fragment of history, blending the elements of earth and time into a serene, almost ethereal composition. The textures and colors create a dynamic yet harmonious visual experience, inviting the viewer to contemplate the passage of time and the layers of stories embedded within the piece.
