Original artwork description:

In this painting I wanted to create a field of colour built up in layers of contrasting tones, creating an optical rhythm across the visual field of the work. The painting explores ideas of permutation and sequence and the relationship between individual elements within a series; the form of the columns were inspired partly by Brancusi.
The work is created through a long process of repainting, layering and adjustment to achieve the right balance of colour and flow across the painting.
