I loved working on this piece! These poppies just felt alive to me as I layered the oil pastels, blending fiery reds, oranges, and subtle blues to bring out their energy and movement. The black background was my way of making the colors pop even more—it adds such a dramatic contrast, doesn’t it? I wanted each petal to have its own personality, like they’re dancing together in the breeze. This painting was all about celebrating their vibrant, delicate beauty.
