Vesuvio erupting viewed from boat level in the bay of Naples, Italy. Using inspiration from the 1944 photographs taken from light aircraft and more recent colour photographs.
I’ve been to Naples and Vesuvius is a beautiful and terrifying presence even without the gigantic ash cloud and molten rock. Its fiery passion is part of the Neapolitan spirit .

Acrylics and liquid acrylic inks with brushes and dip pen.
