This painting was created on plein air in New York on Coney Island.
An emotional picture played out before my eyes, a storm and a bright sunset of the outgoing day. A real gift for an plein air artist.

I use the impasto technique to create a vibrant texture to bring out this drama. Warm, sunny tones and and cold tones of menacing clouds, impasto strokes added depth and richness to the composition.
