Original artwork description:

Meet Edith!
One of a small concentration of Kingfishers who is currently living at my house, but who really wants to come to live at yours!
She is built onto plywood and has a three dimensional front wing and body. I used iridescent blue glass, milliefiori and orange glass rounds and my own hand gilded metal leaf glass.
Ready to hang for an indoor wall only.
In the valley below the hill where I live there is a small village with a leat running along the edge of the fields and opposite a row of old and pretty cottages. There are often ducks on the leat and once I saw a very raggedy looking heron trying to catch a fish, but it always feels as if I have experienced a split second of magic when I catch a bright blue iridescent flash out of the corner of my eye.
The kingfishers are built onto plywood and have a three dimensional front wing and body.
Sizes are approx 17-21cm beak to tail and wings are approx 13-15 cm long.
Ready to hang for indoor display only.

Materials used:

plywood, wire, cement mixtures, polystyrene, glass tiles, milliefiori, glass rods, hand gilded metal leaf glass
