This is a study of a model as Venus. The oil painting explores a strong black woman, standing in a position of power, gazing at the viewer rather than averting her gaze towards some imaginary left or right middle distance.

The style is inspired by Delacroix's loose, quick brush strokes and dabs of paint.

Framed in an antique white mount frame.
