Original artwork description:

I find the sunlight, architecture, and general landscapes of California to be very inspiring, and during a holiday there a few years ago I took a lot of photos that I planned to paint. This latest one depicts a view of the skyline from street level at the corner of Pacific Avenue, underneath the famous Venice Beach sign.

In my original photo I'd cropped the first part of the sign out, leaving the appropriate word, 'nice', visible. Add to that the pink-hued buildings, a traffic light, and some silhouetted palm trees against a colourful Californian sunset, and you're left with a bright, bold, and colourful landscape that would brighten up any room in the house.

As well as being inspired by LA itself, the work of David Hockney is another obvious influence here, being a pop art-inspired British painter who famously created opulent Californian views.

As with my other paintings I've aimed for a bold, graphic style rather than realism.

It was painted in acrylics and Posca pen on cardboard-backed canvas, and is signed on the back.

Size -
12 x 15.9 inches
30.5 cm x 40.5 cm
Roughly 1.8 cm thick

The painted will be packed in a cardboard box and wrapped safely with bubble wrap.

Materials used:

Acrylic Paint, Canvas, Paintbrush, Posca pen
