The painting is inspired from a series of sketches done at a local Saturday market. It’s always a challenge to get the basics of the sketch done before people get up and walk away, leaving me to improvise the rest. Then the sketch is just a foundation from which I let the painting express itself. The challenge is to put movement into the painting with colour and ‘splash’.
The close up picture is to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. Then there’s the work in progress, and the sketch.
