When I moved to Dakar, Senegal in 2014 I was overwhelmed by my new surroundings, the noise, the rush, the hassle. Eventually I found solace in plants and started capturing elements of vegetation that cropped up here and there in the city landscape. The trees and gardens that became the subject of my work offered me opportunities to play around with colour, layers and composition. This is an oil sketch that led to a series of larger paintings that celebrated farmers and horticulturists and were an expression of hope for the future.
This painting comes in a 33.5 x 23,5 x 3 cm floating frame.
