Original artwork description:

Vertical large scale abstraction. Made over multiple sessions allowing thick layers of impasto to build a network of ellipses and gestures. One intention by clustering so much color together like a bouquet of flowers the results emanate light and alert the eye to non stop activity' like a looping cartoon this painting has a mad cap humor and spirit to offer. Oranges and pinks pop over dark greens and browns. I am employing the term "vamp" in it's verbal musical form; to repeat a simple passage of music. Specifically Jazz riffing. The canvas itself was sturdily crafted to begin with so the addition of so much pigment gives a sculptural materiality and the object is heavier than normal.
