The idea of the "Urban View" series is simply the style, a urban, street art style. Actually the first part of the series is “Under the Bridge”, even if it has another title. The inspiration for this series was really a bridge – on the way to my earlier day job I drove along the substructure of a bridge every morning. The bridge was always the same old grey ugly bridge, but nearly every day something in the area changed:
Sometimes I spotted camps from homeless persons, sometimes there was a new graffiti, one day there were some square paper paintings placarded overnight. Only a few weeks later a new graffiti covered them. So the idea of the painting “Under the bridge” came up.
This painting "Gardening" is part of the Urban Views series, inspired from urban and street art. During the painting process it turned out to be kind of a flowery painting with the greens and rose tones and the marks in the lower part of the painting that awake feelings of growing plants. But I felt that anyway it should belong to the series, so I called it “gardening” according to some projects in cities that try to bring back nature into cities (one of those projects is nearby our home in Frankfurt).
It is a mixed media work, I used acrylic, charcoal and oil sticks. There is also a collage with craft paper in the bottom part that is nearly completely overpainted.
It is sealed with a matt varnish (Lascaux with UV protection) and is signed and dated on the back.
A professional hanger is already mounted, so the painting is ready to hang and you just need a nail.

I find my inspirations in colours and materials - for example in a beautiful deep turquoise mountain lake or in the washed-out grey of concrete in a city. Based on such impressions and inspirations I commence my work and my artwork often comes to life in little series. Each painting is unique and the creation and development of each painting is a time consuming and slow process, usually lasting many weeks and in some cases up to a few months.
My paintings are acrylic mix paintings, for example, acrylic paint with charcoal, oil pastels, pencils, spray paint and many other artistic materials. I often combine these materials with natural materials and objects from nature (e.g., leaf seeds) as well as with ash, sand or building materials such as grout or plaster.
My pieces of art are created informally. Each step builds on the previous step, leaving room for chance but also for corrections and erasures, until the final finished artwork has evolved as a composition of colour, shape, texture and surface.
Due to the complexity of my paintings and the interplay of (collage) materials, my works are not simply one-dimensional, rather they entice the viewer not just to explore them with their eyes but also to touch them.
My works of art are informal; they are my personal expressions of my experiences and impressions and each piece of art is truly unique and only one of its kind.
