"Urban landscape", acrylic on canvas, 50X87 cm.

A mysterious urban landscape with strong contrasts, created with thin layers of transparent acrylic. No textures (except the grain of the weave of the canvas), no impasto, lots of subtleties and glazes, traces of graphics in the transparencies, even in the dark tones. This painting is made with the technic of a watercolor applied to acrylic : the light is brought by the white of the canvas.

The main subject of this work is mysterious, even for me... Maybe an harbour, an industrial site, maybe in fire, or not... Who knows ? Delicate blue and greens, strong contrasts of shadow and light (fire ? clouds illuminated by the sunset ?).

Main colors are transparent : blue, brown, green, greyish blue, transparent dark brown, yellow and orange... The style is modern, contemporary, semi-abstract.

"A semi-abstract landscape where the representation is slightly jostled, enough to ask questions. Figurative markers ask more questions than they answer. Concrete elements could be interpreted : fire or clouds, water or road, harbour or oil extraction platform. But their association does not work according to classical standards. Reality is subtly destructured. The meaning is not asserted: do we see normal urban scene, or industrial accident?
This work can be hung in any position and each time a different meaning emerges. Here, the urban becomes nature, here, it's the other way round. Presented vertically, this painting speaks to us of something else.
Only the reference to ignition remains. Why does it remain? Unfathomable mystery to which no answer should be given. Art allows us to create worlds."
