There is something very powerful about an empty chair. Maybe it's the unseen presence of an absent person or the representation of aloneness or the invitation of possibility.

In this series of paintings called 'Empty Chairs' I wanted to somehow convey all of those things, so I have kept the palette simple, the focal point is the chair but with plenty of space around it to convey it's isolation.

Painted in oils using high quality Michael Harding paint on canvas board. It is initialled on the front and signed on the back.
