The edges are painted black to allow for immediate frame-free hanging if you choose.

This painting can be removed from the stretcher bars and shipped in a strong waterproof plastic tube. This not only significantly reduces the shipping cost, but also ensures against damage in transit. The painting can then be re stretched at any reputable framers at the expense of the buyer.
