My latest mixed media works bring together some of the elements from the the XVII and XVIII centuries’ fashion, and the post-punk counter-culture during the eighties, which I find esthetically and culturally interesting and just as baroque as the centuries aforementioned, but instead, in opposition to the glamour and romance that characterized the historic period.
The process is quite simple and intuitive, I’m not focused on story telling but instead feeling, line, texture, and color.
This mixed media painting is a portrait of Siouxsie Sioux, lead singer of the post-punk British band ‘Siouxsie and the Banshees’.
The artwork is framed, please see the images and note the surface has been attached to the wooden frame without the usual hanging screws, but with pre-set Velcro stripes. It’s manufactured that way and I personally find it delightfully practical and time savy. I made sure it’s not a cheap frame, it’s actually well made and sturdy; artwork stays safe in place.
The canvas can be removed from the frame but the stripes attached to the back side should not, otherwise it’ll ruin the material.
