At 1.5 metres wide 'Untamed Beyond' has a strong influence from Pauls' many visits to the Hebrides and his early years immersed in the mountains of his home County and the English Lake District. Mountain and lake traits are merely suggested leaving the viewer to interpret the piece personally. The painting is built up in layers of paint application. Firstly very loose and watery acrylic looking to achieve 'accidental' sweet spots of colour and texture, applied over texture pastes. Then paintery shapes built up followed by subtle glazes of tone and blends to tie elements together.
Untamed Beyond is framed up in a black tray frame.
