Artwork description:

This unique linocut was inspired by the alliums in my garden that were covered in bees. it is the first out of an edition of 25. I make all of my prints in my studio in York which faces out onto the garden. In the case of this one, I chiselled out some allium shapes from some pieces of printing vinyl and printed each flower individually by hand with a range of subtle colours. The paper is beige and the inks I used are sage green, a dark greyish blue and a rusty red. I used Indian handmade paper made from plant fibres that can be seen and has a lovely texture. The paper is slightly uneven in shape and has an attractive deckled edge. The image size is 26 X 17 cm but the paper size is approximately 30.5 X 22 cm. Each print is unique as the alliums are laid in different places each time and there is no absolute control over how the colours will turn out when they overlap each other. This is why these types of prints are so exciting to make! Also, this work represents an affordable way to collect handmade art.
I will package the print in a reinforced, waterproof envelope and send using a courier.
