Artwork description:

I am drawn to the nude as a symbol of vulnerability, and I am inspired by how the posture or stance of a body can offer information into the psyche of the person in the frame.

There is a sense that the figure in this piece is closing in on herself, the way we often do whilst undergoing a difficult moment or period of weakness. But I often find that as we move through the fragility of these moments, what’s on the other side is greater understanding and strength, or even great joy. The title Unfold refers to the sense that the physical body is slowly releasing from a tense state to one of softness. But it also alludes to the potential we have to observe what unfolds in our experience as we move through discomfort.

As all prints are hand pressed, each will have some minor differences, which I believe adds to the character of the print. I cannot guarantee that you will receive the edition featured in the photo.

Materials used:

linoleum, Caligo inks, Japanese Hosho paper
