Original artwork description:

This artwork, part of my UnderWater Collection, is created using epoxy resin, a medium that is both challenging and rewarding to work with. Resin starts as fluid as water and gradually hardens over several hours, meaning every piece requires technique and patience. The way it cures over time adds an element of unpredictability, much like life itself. This high gloss finish enhances the depth and vibrant colours and reflects light in a way that brings the piece to life.

With this series, I aim to capture the feeling of diving deep into oneself, like diving into the ocean. Each resin layer symbolizes different life experiences that blend to form our unique identity. The abstract design, fluid forms, and layers reflect the light breaking through water, representing the discovery of light within ourselves through introspection.

The sea has always been a powerful source of inspiration for me. The way water moves, changes, and reflects light echoes the ups and downs of life. The blue, turquoise, and aquamarine tones I frequently use are reminiscent of the ocean’s depths, while the contrasts between dark and celeste create a sense of mystery. My work evokes the image of standing on a beach, gazing at the seascape where sand meets the sky, inviting viewers to explore the deeper meanings beneath the surface.

Through these pieces, I invite you to embark on your journey of self-discovery. The layers of resin and the fluid composition represent how life’s experiences intertwine, shaping who we are. Each artwork holds both peace and movement, reflecting the constant flow of life. These pieces aren’t just wall art; they are expressions of individuality and the importance of looking within.

I am Rubén Abstract, an artist born in Madrid in 1975, but my roots lie in the Canary Islands, where I spent my adolescence and completed my university studies. My family is from there, and the peaceful beauty of the islands, combined with the vibrant energy of Madrid, profoundly influences my work. Beyond art, my passion for Ironman triathlons and marathons teaches me the discipline and endurance I bring to my creative process. Whether working with acrylic, oil, or mixed media, I’m constantly pushing myself to explore new depths of expression.

As I continue my journey in life and art, I aim to connect with you through my artwork. I hope these pieces resonate with you emotionally and inspire you to reflect on your path.
