Under the Sea is a unique abstract expressionism painting with impressionist elements that capture the interaction of ocean life. The painting features mangroves, seaweed, and a coral reef that's highly textured (painted in my impasto pointillism style with thick oil paint; I call this "Paintillism"). There are underwater plants moving around the painting, giving the illusion that the coral reef is alive. The colour scheme consists of a dark green hue coupled with red, yellow, and white oil paint. Silver spray paint gives the water an illuminating sheen that makes it appear that light is shining through it.
