Every now and then you have to do a self portrait to cleanse the palette. Okay, maybe not for everyone, but seemed to be the right time for me. I don't like the idea of traditional portraits, always wanting to add or take away to capture the essence, rather than being spot on the nose.
Long story short, this fun piece was produced while...wait for it...I was under a lot of pressure. You got me...a little on the nose I suppose.
My head is actually elevated from the canvas and painted on watercolor paper. I wanted there to be some dimension and have a surface that was active.
