Umuganura festival is a harvest festival that is celebrated on the first Friday of August each year. It is a public holiday in Rwanda and this festival occurs in the first whole week but celebrated officially on Friday, this festival is from a long time ago during ancient times. All villages and every place in the whole of the country gather together in small communities and everyone brings a harvest that has been harvested, in order to taste it and share it with family, friends and neighbors and also share it with the public. People bring fruits, vegetables, grains, potatoes, every kind of food, milk, cooked meals, banana beers, and sorghum beers, all harvested from agriculture. People in this festival exchange history, they dance traditionally, they teach children the virtue and good habits of being a good Rwandan citizen, and it is a good time that brings all people together and shares everything from harvest to history.
