Painting description
‘Kyoto Skies’ is an original hummingbird painting by emerging British artist Sian Storey, and part of an ongoing series of paintings inspired by the beauty of Japan.
A rectangular canvas sized at 30x100cm and 5cm depth, Sian used acrylic and spray paint to create this vibrant and beautiful painting. The harmonious colours of seafoam green and blue provide a backdrop to the vivid colours of the hummingbirds in flight, and hot pink blossoms in bloom.
There are flashes of gold spray paint that catch the light with a shimmering effect.
Look closely and you’ll also see origami paper pasted onto the painting.
The painting is signed by the artist Sian Storey on the front and reverse, and will be a stunning addition to your art collection.
Feel inspired
Japan’s beauty is a constant source of inspiration for Sian. The title ‘Kyoto Skies’ refers to the beautifully clear crisp blues of springtime in Japan that create a backdrop to the beauty of the Sakura season as well as the many tranquil gardens there.
Sian is also inspired by the beauty and movement of hummingbirds.
How it was created
‘Kyoto Skies’ was painted in Sian Storey’s studio in leafy Hampshire in 2018. Sian paints in layers, giving the painting a sense of depth.
