The title of this work is taken from "The Theologian's Tale" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
"Ships that pass in the night, and speak each other in passing, only a signal shown, and a distant voice in the darkness; So on the ocean of life, we pass and speak one another, only a look and a voice, then darkness again and a silence."
The dictionary reference is this: "Often said of people who meet for a brief but intense moment and then part, never to see each other again. These people are like two ships that greet each other with flashing lights and then sail off into the night."
Two Ships Passing is a one of a kind, original work of art. It is produced using India ink and acrylic paint on 5 mil archival grade mylar. This is an ink wash painting of a similar painting done in color. The mylar does not have to be stretched like canvas or watercolor paper. It is easy to mount on any type of board: plywood, masonite, foamboard, etc. I include simple mounting instructions with each piece that I sell. You can see these instructions at the “me at work” section of my shop. I include a hanging strip and a drywall hanging device. Everything that you need to mount your painting except the board.
The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
