This piece is kind of a throwback to my work from several years ago, when I was utilizing collage into many of my paintings, and my women’s feet and hands were typically large. The theme of a seated women, replete with flowers and a Bird is of course a mainstay for me. But it was fun going back to adding decorative papers to create parts of objects, but with areas left, where I painted in similar fashion to finish off the object. When I work in this manner, I always try to keep from copying the paper design too closely, so that it’s it apparent where I’ve painted an “imitation” of a paper’s design. In this piece I utilized Acrylic Paint pens to create many of the smaller details. The edges of this canvas are painted so that it can be hung, unframed.
