A linocut print of two magpies, with the bodies and tails of the two birds flowing around within a square format so that they are looking at each other from above and below.
After the success of ‘Mr Magpie’ and also creating a magpie print for a book cover design, I wanted to re-visit the popular subject of magpies in a way that catered to those that are superstitious and feel that one is ‘bad luck’.
I used black and blue ink to create a colour fade to capture the subtle blue iridescence in the feathers.
