My favorite flowers are peonies.
In traditional Chinese and Japanese art, peonies represent feminine beauty as well as wealth and status. Peonies are of particular importance in China, the homeland of this flower. In this country, the peony is the national flower and symbolizes wealth, power and is often found in traditional painting, silk embroidery, national dress and jewelry. I like twilight. This is the time when the day dies. Objects lose their clear outlines and slowly sink into a blue twilight. In this painting, I combined my love for peonies with blue to create a lyrical twilight image. Shimmering gold accentuates shades of cold blue.
