I have been thinking a lot about the way light affects the viewpoint of our surroundings and the world, depending on the time of day. Dawn, mid-morning, late afternoon on a hot summer's day, dusk and twilight all possess a completely different mood.
With this painting, I wanted to evoke that magical, soft glowing light from the sky when the sun is below the horizon. That period between daylight and darkness when the twilight is visible can be seen as a period of ambiguity and gradual decline, or the state between the certainties of the day and the hesitancy and uncertainty of the night.
Some people welcome the stillness and tranquillity of night as a respite from the trials and anxieties of the day, while others fear it's the dark presence and the sense of foreboding about what is to come in the morning.
My point of view:
I think that there is never a right or wrong way to make art.
The most important thing is trying. Do not raise any barriers that prevent you from expressing yourself.
Just do it and make something.
Please note that the background images are only used for display purposes and please consider the dimensions mentioned.
Acrylic colour & mixed media on canvas. Finished with final varnish to protect it against sunlight and dust.
