This picture was drawn over two very hot and humid summer days from the hot spring town of Jiaoxi in Yilan, Taiwan. We were very fortunate to have a view across the Lanyang Plains to the coast and Turtle Island. It was very hot so luckily I could draw this from inside the room with air conditioning rather than outside in the heat! The relentless heat did still get me through the window and I definitely felt it afterwards! Tropical heat ain’t no joke! In this picture I wanted to try to show as many of the details that I could see. It was a fun challenge to try to capture such a complex composition with so many different coloured crops, vegetation and buildings dotted around.
