China Cove in Point Lobos is famously known for its emerald luminous water. You can often find me setting up my plein air easel in the area, working to catch the golden light and its effects on the water. In this piece, I used thick, sweeping brushstrokes to showcase the movement of the water, reflections and the texture of the cliffs.

Materials:
Oil on Oil Primed natural linen canvas. Linen is not pumiced, for a unique, nubby, non-uniform finish. Solid pine stretcher bars 3/4"D x 2.17"W. Canvas is first stretched and back-stapled, then primed for a drum-tight surface. Oil primed surface is specifically designed to provide beautiful results with oil paints. Painting surface is protected with a coat of Gamvar varnish.

The painting is unframed, wired in the back on stretcher bars, and ready to hang without a frame.
