I have been creating sculptural reliefs for several years. I use mathematics and a random algorithm to place and orient the elements. This piece is based on a Fibonacci series and has an interesting spiral form. This kind of pattern is often found in nature, the shells of marine animals and the whorls of galaxies for example.
The random algorithm ensures a unique structure which interacts with the light falling on it in a very special way.
It is very optically active, reflecting or transmitting light and casting shadows around the elements. It responds to changing light during the day so that it looks different every time you look at it.
This is a pure aluminium version of 'Fibonacci's corners turned'.
