I painted 'Tulips on the Mounting Block at Gunby' after a visit to the beautiful Gunby Hall in Lincolnshire. It was a gloriously hot Saturday in late May. The roses for which the gardens are renowned were not quite out, but there were plenty of spring bulbs still in flower that more than compensated. I spotted a collection of pots spilling over with floppy, burgundy coloured tulips. They were artistically arranged on the steps of an old mounting block in the courtyard and it was a composition I couldn't resist.
This painting is an oil on canvas board. It measures 20.5 x 25.5cm and is unframed. [Please note that the frame in one of the photographs is for illustration purposes only]
The painting is signed on the front and titled in pencil on the reverse.
