This iconic gardens of Tuileries park sits close to the Louvre museum and Place de la Concorde. It was created by Catherine de Medici in 1564, and opened to the public in 1667. It's a wonderful retreat deep inside Paris, somewhere to pull up one of the metal chairs and sit by the pond, or under the shade of a tree in the summer heat.
The oil painting was made in 2019 on Clairefontaine canvasboard which gives it a good rigidity. It has been left for a number of months to properly dry, and then given a coat of Gamvar varnish, dried overnight and a second coat applied. It is sized 41 x 33cm and comes unframed.
Oil paints (Rembrandt, Old Holland, Winsor & Newton, Gamblin, lefranc & bourgeois)
