Summer in Kyiv is not very hot, but sometimes there are some hot days, like today, with +33 degrees Celsius. That's why many Kyiv residents head to Trukhaniv Island to sunbathe on the beach and swim in the Dnieper River. The water is refreshing and cool. Sometimes flocks of little fish swim close to the shore, and occasionally a police boat swiftly cuts through the water, creating waves to the delight of playful children. Nothing reminds us of the war except for the concrete blocks placed a little further along the shore, which can serve as shelter in case of an attack. And sometimes, armed military personnel patrol the area. I thought about how people with rifles slung over their shoulders evoke a sense of calmness and confidence, knowing that the situation is under control, and we can sunbathe and swim in the Dnieper fearlessly.

The painting is executed with high-quality oil paints on sturdy cardboard.
