Tropico del Capricorno (Tropic of Capricorn) is part of a project that investigates the relationship between human beings and the environment. This painting in particular deals with the upheavals related to global warming - the rise in the level of the oceans, the melting of glaciers and tropicalization. I have chosen visual references related to my experience and I have recombined them to create a scene that is both tempting and repulsive, in an attempt to give an aspect to the ambivalence that very often characterizes people's feelings about environmental issues. The title recalls a further upheaval, a geographical reversal in the map of what could become a planet Earth that has little or nothing to do with what we know now. The nervous and instinctive brushstrokes of the lower part of the canvas would like to materially evoke the idea of dissolution, of an evanescent reality that is about to vanish because it is made up of continuous, unpredictable and sudden changes.
