Artwork description:

This sculpture works with the concept of compacting the human figure in a geometric volume, reducing the forms to a minimum but allowing them to be recognizable. Postulates close to those expressed at the beginning of the 20th century by cubist sculpture.

Without trying to follow exactly the aesthetic proposals of Derain, in his work "seated man", I have tried to get closer to it. Both to the work of Derain, and to those of Archipenko, which have always fascinated me.

I remember well the first time I saw the sculpture "seated man", and the impression it gave me, that mixture of primitivism and geometry, which gave the work an unparalleled force.

On this occasion, and with the impression of having been able to contemplate the original in the exhibition dedicated to Brancusi at the Pompidou Center, I have decided to let myself be carried away by its force, and to be inspired by it, for the creation of a new work. It only aims to be the artistic act of letting oneself be carried away by the influence of a work of art that has had a great impact on me and that I deeply admire.
