Original artwork description:

I bought these pears to eat but loved the shapes of them too much not to paint first!
Painted in oil on a box canvas using a palette knife in bright shades of cadmium and Naples yellow with a rose pink blush against a deep shade of aubergine oil glaze background. The surface of the pears is slightly textured with the palette knife so I hope that is visible in the photos.
I wondered whether to paint a surface underneath for the pears to sit on, but decided to just enjoy the shapes and tension between them. Slightly reminiscent of three ladies sitting from behind maybe? :)
