Original artwork description:

This is a small plen aire oil painting done on canvas. I was painting on a riverbank with a group of painters. We were all lined up and; before I started, I realized that all of the paintings were going to look very similar because they were all being created from nearly the same spot. So, I turned around and painted the scene that had been behind me--and this was it!
It was mid-day. The light here is very intense with lots of extreme contrast. Hence, the dramatic difference between the background and the whiteness of the trees. Seems a little ominous doesn't it?
