Another small oil painting of this typical polder landscape. Looking down from the dike these wonderful long shadows cast by the setting sun caught my eye. In this spot, (near the Fort on the river Winkel) the small river and the dike make a sharp turn.
Just one day of sketching offered me enough inspiration for a series of paintings. At this specific spot I created some drawings of trees and shadows. At the studio, preparing my panels I chose some smaller ones to recreate what I had seen. This is one of a series of ten landscapes I created after that day.
The painting is varnished and framed in a wooden, ‘white washed’ frame. The panel is attached to a framework of the same size to make it float in the frame. It is ready to hang.
