I shot the photograph which served as a reference for this painting one day in early May. There are a few weeks in North America when bright yellow or bright green pollen rains down from the trees, coating bodies of water (and cars and skylights, sidewalks etc.). Such an ephemeral event created an almost chartreuse skim across the waters of a local pond. I couldn’t resist the scene of Canada geese swimming around in circles, their motion generating ripples in the water, that mixed with the colors of the sky, reflections of buildings on the far side, trees, reeds and grasses, and the pollen—all a mix on the water’s surface. The oil painting is on panel and measures 16x12 inches (40.47x30.48 cm). It is framed and ready to hang in a silver plein aire wooden frame. The dimensions framed are 22x28 inches (55.88x45.72 cm). Signed on the back, sealed in Gamvar satin varnish, colorfast for 500 years, this work ships with a Certificate of Authenticity.
