This original graphic representation of a meditative flowers in vase composition has initially been painted on pale blue background with a 'blotch' dry brush indigo background added afterwards. This technique along with intentional miss-register of background colour with image creates a very different feel to an initially formal structure. these types of skills are often used in the production of hangings and printed textile design to give them a more painterly hand produced quality, compared to flatter commercially mass produced item. It breathes life into the surface.
Focusing on a semi- symmetrical arrangement can help to relax body and mind and release tensions.
I have always enjoyed producing complex imagery and creating decorative form since my early years in Ireland.
