Original artwork description:

Treasure Hill is a very special and magical hillside settlement near the riverside in Taipei City. It was originally built to house single soldiers and then fell into disrepair and was almost abandoned except for a few residents for a while. It has since been turned into an Artists Village and has enjoyed a renaissance. I am very happy about this as I feel it is a very uniquely atmospheric place with small alleys and beautifully ageing concrete buildings clinging to the hillside, with parts being slowly reclaimed by nature. I always enjoy exploring this area and have found many interesting scenes and viewpoints that I want to try to capture and recreate. I chose this scene as I love how the vibrant natural shapes and colours of the Banana Trees contrast with the dark decaying greys of the concrete and how the creeper vines are reclaiming the buildings. This Ink and Acrylic mixed media work on 300gsm paper was started as an Ink Drawing done “en plein air” at Treasure Hill Artists Village. I then added thin layers of Acrylic paint to it at a later date and built up the detail with colour. After that I drew over the painting again with Ink to add depth, shadows and definition.
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver worldwide at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
Any import duties, taxes and charges that may be payable are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please message me to check if this might affect your purchase.
